Morocco Approves Increase in Private Sector Family Allowances Starting September
The Council of Government adopted the implementing decree No. 2.19.750 amending Decree No. 2.08.358 published on July 9, 2008 providing for an increase in family allowances for the private sector.
Things are becoming clearer as the deadline for the effective implementation of the increase in family allowances approaches. By adopting implementing decree No. 2.19.750, the Council of Government paves the way for the effective implementation of the social dialogue agreement as of September 1, 2019.
On this occasion, Mustapha El Khalfi, Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and Civil Society, Government Spokesperson, recalled that this agreement was signed on April 25, 2019 between the Government, the most representative trade union centers and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
According to El Khalfi, the bill aims to implement decision No. 42/2019 of the Board of Directors of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), held on July 17, 2019. At this meeting, the CNSS had approved the government decision to increase allowances. It will be a matter of paying 100 dirhams to each employee’s child, in terms of family allowances as of September 1, 2019.
Nearly 1.3 million insured persons are affected by this measure. The objective is to work for the improvement of the conditions of employees in the private sector and to guarantee their social stability, while ensuring the stability of the company and strengthening its competitiveness, it is indicated.
