Morocco Boosts Family Allowances: 300 DH Per Child Starting July 2019

Each child will receive 300 DH for family allowances starting in July 2019. This is the decision of the Board of Directors of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS).
According to leconomiste.com, family allowances represent 20% of the salary for 32% of beneficiaries declared at less than the minimum wage, 13% of the salary for those declared between the minimum wage and 4,000 DH, and 2% for those over 6,000 DH. This revaluation of family allowances will not lead to an increase in contributions.
The conclusions of the Management and Study Committee clearly show that the assessment of this increase will have an impact of 2.7 billion DH. In other words, this represents 50% of the fund to be used for the first year. With this cost, it should be noted that the increase of 100 DH for the first three children and the granting of 36 DH per child for the others, up to a number of 6, have been taken into account.
The Board of Directors intends to experiment with this measure for two years. This period will allow it to assess its impact and to judge whether or not to increase the contribution rates.
Moreover, the CNSS administrators plan to review the conditions for accessing family allowances, namely the minimum wage.
