Morocco Approves 316 New Tourist Transport Licenses, Boosting Tourism Sector

The Transport Commission has validated 316 tourist transport authorizations, during the first meeting of the year between the Ministry of Equipment and representatives of road transport professionals.
During this meeting, the number of companies authorized for the first time was 23, while the total number of authorizations granted for the first time reached 173, according to the meeting report.
Specifically, 8 authorizations were granted in the 1st category, 46 in the 2nd category, 98 in the 3rd category relating to Special Light Transport (TLS) and 21 authorizations in the 3rd category relating to rental vehicles for tourist transport of the TGR type.
Furthermore, the number of companies benefiting from additional authorizations reached 21, while the total number of additional authorizations granted reached 143, the same press release notes. Some 26 authorizations were also granted in the 1st category, 23 in the 2nd category, 79 in the 3rd category relating to TLS and 15 authorizations granted in the 3rd category relating to rental vehicles for tourist transport of the TGR type.
The same source announces that the next meetings between the supervisory ministry and road transport professionals should focus on opening the sector to new entrants and on the issue of driver training, which will now be a priority.
It should be noted that the State has already carried out the census of the number of drivers involved in this process, which is around 175,000 beneficiaries for the 2019-2020 period, as well as the implementation of the necessary legal procedures to concretize the ministry’s commitment to shorten the training period.
