Morocco and Israel Plan Joint Military Base Near Spanish Enclave, Reports Say

Morocco is strengthening its military cooperation with Israel. After the acquisition of Israeli drones and the project to manufacture kamikaze drones, the kingdom plans to build a military base near Melilla with its new partner.
Rabat is preparing with Tel Aviv the construction of a military base near the city of Melilia, believes El Español, specifying that the news comes a few days before the first visit to Morocco of the Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Gantz, scheduled for November 24 and 25.

"During this official trip, Benny Gantz should commit to providing Morocco with the advanced Iron Dome air defense system [...] currently being manufactured for the United States," said the specialized website Info Defensa, adding that "new agreements will be signed between Israel and Morocco for the installation in Morocco of a factory for the manufacture of military drones, including kamikaze drones".

The new agreement to be signed with Israel "goes beyond the Abraham Accords that Morocco has also signed with the United States in October 2020", which constitute "the defense roadmap" of the two countries until 2030. "In recent years, Rabat has embarked on a process of renewal and especially modernization of the equipment and equipment of its Royal Armed Forces, whose main suppliers are France, the United States and Israel," it is specified.
