Morocco and Israel Hold First Financial Markets Talks Since Diplomatic Renewal

More than two months after the resumption of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel, Nezha Hayat, president of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC) and her Israeli counterpart, Anat Guetta, exchanged for the first time, this Wednesday, February 17, 2021 by videoconference. This meeting helped to strengthen the mutual understanding of the financial markets of the two countries.
During this virtual meeting, Anat Guetta, president of the Israel Securities Authority (ISA) and Nezha Hayat, president of the AMMC discussed the characteristics and challenges of each market, tweeted the president of the ISA on her account. At the end of these first exchanges, the two parties decided to continue the discussions through more in-depth follow-up meetings.
In addition, the ISA and the AMMC sit on the Growth and Emerging Markets Committee (GEMC) within the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). It should be noted that this meeting comes after the virtual and telephone interviews between the Moroccan and Israeli ministers of Industry, Tourism, Energy and most recently Foreign Affairs.
