Morocco and Israel Explore Tourism Cooperation Following Diplomatic Normalization

Moroccan Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui spoke by phone on Friday, August 6 with her Israeli counterpart Yoel Razvozov. They discussed opportunities for cooperation between Morocco and Israel.
"We discussed various opportunities for cooperation between the two countries following the renewal of ties led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs," Yoel Razvozov, the Israeli Minister of Tourism, wrote on his Twitter account, without providing details on this discussion.
Morocco normalized its diplomatic relations with Israel under the auspices of the United States in December 2020 in exchange for American recognition of the kingdom’s sovereignty over the Sahara. Since then, the two countries have been working to strengthen their ties in several sectors of activity.
The Israeli airlines El Al and Israir had launched their first flights to Morocco on July 25. Hundreds of Israeli tourists arrived in Marrakech aboard the first direct commercial flight from Israel. This first air link between Tel Aviv and the ochre city was operated on an Israir airline plane.
In addition, Israeli Foreign Minister Yaïr Lapid will make an official visit to Morocco on August 11 and 12, 2021, where he will inaugurate the Israeli diplomatic mission.
