Morocco’s Amrabat Under Fire for Dangerous Tackle on Brazil’s Rodrygo in Friendly Match

An incident involving Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat occurred during the friendly match between Morocco and Brazil, won by the Atlas Lions (2-1).
One minute before halftime of the friendly match between Morocco and Brazil at the Grand Stadium of Tangier, Sofyan Amrabat committed a savage tackle from behind on Vinicius. He grabbed the Brazilian’s back leg. This provoked the anger of Vinicius’ teammates. Rodrygo attacked the Moroccan midfielder, which triggered a scuffle between players from both teams. A few minutes later, calm was restored.
Although it was a friendly, the match between Morocco and Brazil was a high-stakes encounter. On one side, the Selecao who wanted to honor the memory of Pelé in their first international match since his death. On the other side, the Atlas Lions who were determined to prove that their historic and exceptional run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was far from a fluke.
