Tottenham’s Champions League Push Dealt Blow as Emerson Royal Faces Knee Surgery

Injured in the left knee after a tackle from Sofyan Amrabat during the friendly match against Morocco, Brazilian Emerson Royal will have to undergo surgery and therefore miss a series of important matches for his club, Tottenham.
With his injury, Emerson Royal could miss Tottenham’s remaining 10 Premier League matches, putting the London club in difficulty as it seeks to qualify for the Champions League next season. Pending the recovery of the 24-year-old Brazilian player, right-back Pedro Porro should replace him until the end of the season, reports Direct TV Sport.
"We confirm that Emerson Royal suffered a left knee meniscus injury while on international duty with Brazil last week. The defender will undergo surgery before starting his rehabilitation with our medical staff," Tottenham said in a statement.
This season, Emerson Royal has already played 32 matches in all competitions with the London club, including 23 as a starter. He was injured in the 90th minute, after a tackle by Sofyan Amrabat during the friendly match between Morocco and Brazil, played Saturday, March 25 in Tangier, Morocco.
