Morocco Allocates 659 Million Dirhams for Road Projects in 2021 Budget

The Moroccan government intends to prioritize road infrastructure in 2021. The budget allocated to road projects is evidence of this.
The budget allocated to road projects through the implementation of 20 conventions exceeds 659 million dirhams, reports Les Inspirations Éco. In total, 400 million will be released in 2021 for the construction of the expressway connecting Tiznit to Laâyoune, the overall financing of which amounts to 1.2 billion dirhams. The government hopes to obtain 1.5 billion dirhams from other partners.
The work on all sections will continue next year. A budget envelope of 1.2 billion dirhams will be used to finance the projects to be launched as part of the program to reduce inequalities in rural areas. This envelope will be transferred from the special road fund to the rural development fund.
Among the projects to be carried out in 2021, we can mention, among others, the connection of the port of Nador to the motorway network for an investment of 4.5 billion dirhams, signage (10 projects) and new motorways (Berrechid-Tit Melill). An amount of 375 million dirhams will be released for road safety.
