According to statistics from the National Airports Office (ONDA), the number of passengers has continued to soar at Moroccan airports. They have welcomed a new record number of passengers.
Moroccan airports have set a new passenger record. In total, 15,104,579 passengers were welcomed during the first six months of 2024, up 19% compared to the same period a year earlier, the National Airports Office (ONDA) said in a statement, adding that this trend concerns the majority of airports, including Rabat-Salé (+40%), Agadir (+34%), Marrakech (+29%), Tetouan (+23%), Tangier (+21%) and Fez (+12%).
Domestic traffic reached 1,531,191 passengers welcomed in the first half of this year, an improvement of 22% compared to the same period in 2023, the same source said. As for international air traffic, 13,573,388 passengers were welcomed, an increase of 19% compared to the first half of 2023. This growth is explained by the good performance of the European (+20%), African (+16%) and Middle and Far East (+15%) markets.
In addition, ONDA reports that there were 111,783 aircraft movements at the end of last June, an increase of 15% compared to the same period a year earlier. Mohammed V Airport accounts for 35% of this traffic, Marrakech Menara 26% and Agadir Al Massira 9%. As for air freight, it recorded an increase of 24% to 46,209 tons in the first half of 2024.
