Morocco’s Airports See Record 19% Passenger Surge in First Half of 2024

The National Airports Authority (ONDA) announced a 19% increase in arrivals during the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching a record of 15,104,579 passengers at the end of June.
This increase was recorded in the majority of the kingdom’s airports, including Rabat-Salé (+40%), Agadir (+34%), Marrakech (+29%), Tetouan (+23%), Tangier (+21%) and Fez (+12%), ONDA said in a statement.
During the first half of this year, domestic traffic reached 1,531,191 passengers, an increase of 22% compared to the same period last year.
International air traffic, for its part, saw an increase of 19% compared to the first half of 2023, or 13,573,388 passengers. A record due to improvements noted on the European (+20%), African (+16%) and Middle and Far East (+15%) markets.
Also, 111,783 flight rotations were recorded at the end of June, up 15% compared to 2023, with 35% for Mohammed V airport, 26% for Marrakech Menara and 9% for Agadir Al Massira. As for air freight, it increased by 24% at the end of June, or 46,209 tons.
