Morocco airports play areas 2026 family travel

Traveling with children in Moroccan airports could become a little less complicated. The National Airport Office plans, in its provisional market program for 2026, the development of play areas in several airports across the kingdom.

The project concerns Casablanca-Mohammed V, Marrakech-Menara, Agadir-Al Massira, Tangier-Ibn Batouta, Fès-Saïss, Rabat-Salé, Nador-El Aroui, Oujda-Angads and Tétouan-Saniat R’mel airports. This is an open call for tenders, scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, under the responsibility of the airport operations division.

This measure may seem secondary compared to the major projects announced in Moroccan airports, but it directly affects the passenger experience. Families, particularly Moroccans living abroad who often travel with children during vacations, know how long waits can be before boarding or in case of delays.

A more bearable wait for families

Play areas should allow children to be occupied in dedicated zones, rather than in queues, crowded halls or boarding rooms. For parents, it’s also a way to reduce tension before the flight, especially during peak periods such as summer or school holidays.

ONDA’s program does not yet provide details on the size of these spaces, their exact location in the terminals or the equipment that will be installed. But the choice of airports involved shows that the project is not aimed solely at Casablanca or Marrakech. Several platforms heavily frequented by MREs are included, notably Tangier, Nador, Oujda and Fès.

This initiative is part of a broader movement of modernization of Moroccan airports. Beyond terminals, parking, signage or security systems, ONDA also seems to want to improve more concrete aspects of daily travel. For families, this could make a real difference.
