Morocco’s AFCON Squad Announcement: Injuries May Force Key Changes
The final list of Moroccan players to participate in the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is about to be unveiled. We should probably have some disappointed players.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has just announced that the Atlas Lions coach, Walid Regragui, will hold a press conference during which the names of the players who will be present at the Africa Cup of Nations must be disclosed. This will take place this Thursday at 11am at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maamora.
Several key players in Regragui’s system could be absent from this list due to injuries. Among them, Romain Saiss, captain of the Moroccan national football team, who was injured just before the start of his team’s match against Al-Okhdoud, in the Saudi championship.
Noussair Mazraoui is also mentioned, who had been forced to leave the field a few days ago due to muscle stiffness in the calf.
Nayef Aguerd could also be absent from the African event. The player did not participate in the matches against Liverpool and Manchester United due to illness, the extent of which is not yet known, as West Ham has not yet spoken out.
To recall, Morocco is placed in Group F during the Cup, which takes place in Côte d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 11, 2024. It will face Tanzania, DR Congo, and Zambia.
