Morocco’s CAN 2024 Squad: Key Players Missing as Regragui Announces Team

While they thought they would participate in the Africa Cup of Nations, several players have likely been disappointed by the announcement of the national team’s list by coach Walid Regragui. An overview of the absentees and the reasons for their non-selection.
Reda Tagnaouti will not be traveling to Côte d’Ivoire with the Atlas Lions. The goalkeeper has not been consistent on the pitch this year with his team MAS de Fès.
This will also be the case for Abdelhamid Sabiri, Zakaria Aboukhlal and Anas Zaroury, who are injured and therefore unavailable.
Walid Regragui also did not call up Yahya Jabrane, Jawad El Yamiq, Walid Chedira, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Badr Banoun, or Achraf Dari. He likely reproaches them for their lack of performance within their respective clubs.
The complete list is as follows:
• Goalkeepers: Yassine Bounou - Munir Mohamedi El Kajoui - Mehdi Benabid.
• Defenders: Achraf Hakimi - Noussair Mazraoui - Nayef Aguerd - Ghanem Saiss - Chadi Riad - Younes Abdelhamid - Yahya Attiat Allah - Abdelkabir Abqar - Mohamed Chibi.
• Midfielders: Amir Richardson - Azzedine Ounahi - Sofyane Amrabat - Bilal El Khannouss - Selim Amallah - Ismael Saibari - Oussama El Azzouzi - Amine Harit.
• Forwards: Abdessamad Ezzalzouli - Tarik Tissoudali - Amine Adli - Hakim Ziyech - Youssef En-Nesyri - Ayoub El Kaabi - Sofiane Boufal.
