Morocco Advances Military Aircraft Maintenance Hub, Boosting Aerospace Industry

Morocco is working to set up an ecosystem of industries dedicated to the maintenance of military aircraft. A project that is part of the implementation of the Industrial Acceleration Plan.

The project to create a military aircraft maintenance facility in Morocco is progressing. The creation of a new entity called Maintenance Aéronautique Asset (MAA) by MedZ has been authorized, reports Aujourd’hui Le Maroc. The latter has been authorized to participate in the capital of the company Maintenance Aero Maroc (MAM) up to 10%. MAA’s main activity will be the acquisition of real estate and the construction of all the infrastructure and buildings for the first phase of the project. As for the company called MAM, it will be responsible for the maintenance of aircraft in Morocco and abroad. It will also rent the infrastructure from the MAA company.

An agreement has been signed as part of this project between the parties concerned, in the presence of the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi. "This agreement provides for the construction of a center for the maintenance, repair and upgrading of military aircraft, which will be built on an area of 15,000 m² at the Benslimane airport.

It should be recalled that an agreement has been concluded between the Moroccan state and Sabena Aérospatial ingénierie S.A of the Blueberry group for the implementation of a strategic partnership, in order to provide maintenance, repair and renewal services for aircraft for the benefit of the Royal Air Force and other clients, and to strengthen the aeronautics industry in Morocco, as well as the establishment of a specialized center in this field.
