Morocco Expands Stake in Aircraft Maintenance Company to Boost Defense Sector

From 10%, the shares of the company Médz, a subsidiary of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), in the company "Maintenance Aero Maroc", have increased to 34%. The Moroccan government has just approved this increase.
This operation aims to strengthen Morocco’s sovereignty in the aviation sector through the establishment of an approved center for the maintenance and repair of aircraft, in particular the aircraft of the Royal Air Force, indicates the announcement published in the Official Bulletin. It will also contribute to the transfer of technology and the creation of jobs in this sector, it is specified.
By decree No. 2.24.1067 of January 23, 2025, amending decree No. 2.22.658 which had granted the 10% stake to Médz in the capital of the company "Maintenance Aero Maroc", the government approved the increase in the stake to 34% and the creation of a new company called "Maintenance Assets Aeronautics".
The "Maintenance Aero Maroc" project, which is part of the organization of the defense industry, was announced in 2022, at the Benslimane air base. It aims to ensure the maintenance of the aircraft of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), in collaboration with foreign partners.
In addition, the Council of Ministers had approved a draft decree establishing two industrial zones dedicated to defense. It comes in application of the law relating to defense, security equipment, weapons and ammunition.
