Morocco Expands Military Aviation Capabilities with Aircraft Maintenance Initiative

Morocco has decided to embark on the maintenance of military aircraft. Its ambition is to become one of the countries with a military industry.
After its aircraft storage and recycling center project, launched in 2021 and which will make it a pioneer in terms of recycling end-of-life aircraft on the African continent, Morocco plans to launch projects in the transformation, upgrading and maintenance of civil and military aircraft, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc. It will be a question of upgrading the Moroccan F16s and F5s. Projects to renovate military infrastructure have already been launched.
In addition to the maintenance of military aircraft, Morocco also plans to invest in decarbonization with a new phase of development for the aerospace industry. It will be a question of carrying out a profound transformation of the sector. This will strengthen the anchoring of the kingdom’s base.
In Morocco, there are 140 companies operating in the aerospace sector, with a turnover of around $2 billion in exports. These companies have created 17,000 direct jobs. The growth rate fluctuated between 18 and 20% before the Covid-19 health crisis.
