Air Algérie Expands Fleet with 15 New Aircraft to Challenge African Market Leader

The airline Air Algérie is active in the acquisition of new aircraft. This is to compete with Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the undisputed leader in Africa with its hub at Casablanca airport.
Air Algérie had launched an international tender on September 21 for the acquisition of 15 new aircraft: 5 aircraft module 200 (A), 3 aircraft module 200 (B), 5 aircraft module 300 and 2 aircraft module 400. The purchase of these new aircraft aims to "allow Air Algérie to open new routes to Africa and Asia", specified the press release of the Council of Ministers published on May 8.
On Wednesday, Algerian state television announced the opening of the bids, without however specifying the identity of the successful bidder(s) and the types of aircraft concerned. Is the acquisition of 15 aircraft sufficient to compete with Royal Air Marc (RAM), the leader in Africa?
