Moroccan Woman Strangles Husband Over Spain Work Dispute, Buries Body Near Home

A woman killed her husband by strangling him at the family home in a rural commune in Sidi Kacem. The refusal of the father of her three children to let her go work in Spain would be at the origin of this meticulously planned homicide.

Terrible news in a rural commune in Sidi Kacem. A woman killed her husband with whom she has lived for 20 years by strangling him with a cable while he was in a deep sleep due to his presumed state of drunkenness, reports the Arabic daily Al Akhbar. She then buried his body near the family home. The tragedy is said to have occurred on the night of November 17.

Without news of his son whom he had called on the phone for two days without being able to reach him, the victim’s father goes to his home. When he asked his wife, she made him believe that her husband had suddenly decided to go on a trip with one of his friends, and that he had informed her that he might not return to his village. This was not enough to reassure his father-in-law, whom she tried to prevent from moving freely in the house and its annexes, particularly in one of the stables. Traces of excavation work near the home aroused suspicion. The victim’s father alerted the authorities. The lifeless body of the husband was thus discovered.

Before committing the crime, the couple were no longer on good terms. The justice system had been seized of the couple’s disputes. But the victim’s refusal to let his wife leave for Spain to work as a seasonal worker in agricultural fields would have been the last straw that pushed the alleged murderess to kill her husband.
