Moroccan Man Sentenced to 24 Years for Ex-Wife’s Murder in Spain

Tried for the murder of his ex-wife by the Superior Court of Huesca, in Spain, a Moroccan was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
The tragedy occurred on June 20, 2021 in Barbastro, in the province of Aragon (northern Spain). The defendant, Abdelkader M., stabbed his ex-wife to death in front of their three children. He was arrested and detained, reports Cadena Ser, specifying that the man was ultimately sentenced to 24 years in prison.
The defendant is prohibited from approaching his children and the victim’s family for 34 years, 10 years more than the prison sentence, but reduced by half the compensation of one million euros requested by the public prosecutor for the relatives of the murdered woman.
Commenting on the sentence, the court found that the defendant was fully aware of his actions at the time he murdered his ex-wife, Hasna, who had managed to obtain a divorce after numerous complaints of domestic violence.
The judge also stated that the individual acted with a perspective of domination and power over his ex-wife stemming from the culture in which he had grown up, and with the ultimate motive caused by the victim’s refusal to sell the house in which she lived with her children in order to share the money.
