Moroccan Woman Denies Adultery Accusations, Forced to Take Pregnancy Test

A married woman and mother of five children is accused by her husband of adultery with a moqaddem in the douar of Afella N’Dra, in the Zagora region. She denies the allegations.

The woman rejected these accusations, claiming that her husband fabricated the whole story to oust the administrative auxiliary from his post. According to her, her husband associated her name with this affair in order to achieve his unspoken goals. The husband filed a complaint against her with the Royal Gendarmerie of Agdez.

As part of the investigation opened, the woman says she was taken to the Gendarmerie headquarters where she underwent a long interrogation of about six hours and a pregnancy test, a procedure she considers humiliating and unjustified. While waiting in the car before being taken to the gendarmerie, the agents also questioned her children in front of her home, she added, denouncing a violation of the law.

According to the woman, her husband filed this complaint to damage her reputation. She added that this situation has affected her life and that of the children who had to stop going to school. The husband, for his part, has requested the intervention of the governor of the region and the head of the Gendarmerie to settle this matter, indicating that he is receiving threats from his wife and mother-in-law to force him to withdraw his complaint.

For her part, the activist Latifa El Aloui questioned the public treatment of this family affair by the prosecutor, in violation of the principle of confidentiality. In a statement to Al3omk, she criticized the way the Prosecutor of the King in Zagora treats women accused of adultery, believing that these practices undermine the traditions and values of the region.
