Daughter Arrested in Meknes for Mother’s Murder and Year-Long Concealment of Body

A woman around 40 years old has been arrested as a suspect in the murder of her mother, who disappeared nearly a year ago, and whose body was found this week in the family home in the medina of Meknes.
The quadragenarian, who is said to suffer from mental disorders, is accused of having concealed her mother’s body in the family home. The Attorney General at the Meknes Court of Appeal will have her undergo a psychiatric examination to verify her mental state before deciding whether to prosecute her for the murder of her mother, who was around 80 years old, and the concealment of her body.
The body of the deceased was discovered two days ago and was transferred to the morgue of Mohammed V Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of her death. An investigation has been opened to shed light on this case.
The woman prevented any family member from visiting her mother, who had been missing for a year. Faced with this inexplicable ban on visits, one of the family’s relatives finally alerted the police, who went to the suspect’s home.
Despite her refusal, the agents entered the house and discovered the octogenarian’s body, or at least what remains of it: her skeleton. According to sources, the woman feared being evicted from the house by her family if she revealed her mother’s death.
