Moroccan Man Arrested for Grandmother’s Murder in Fez During Family Visit

A family tragedy shook the city of Fez last Monday. A Moroccan in his thirties was arrested for the murder of his grandmother at her home on the road to Ain Chqef. The suspect, on vacation in his hometown, would have committed this atrocious act due to mental disorders, addiction and family tensions.
The murder took place on Sunday evening, around 11 p.m. The man would have killed his grandmother before being arrested by the security forces. The victim’s body was transported to the morgue of the El Ghassani hospital for an autopsy.
This odious crime aroused emotion in the neighborhood, which gathered in front of the victim’s house. The Attorney General has opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
It should be noted that this murder is the second of its kind to occur on the same night in the region. Another homicide took place during a wedding in the Tlalsa douar, in the commune of Ain Chqef, a few kilometers away.
The suspect was brought before the Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Fez on Wednesday for "assault and battery with a knife resulting in the death of an ascendant".
