Moroccan Woman Arrested for Spreading False Coronavirus Video in Fez

The elements of the judicial police at the police headquarters in Fez arrested, on Monday evening, February 3, a young woman involved in the dissemination of a false video about a Chinese national presumed to be infected with the Coronavirus.

The author of the video, widely circulated on social networks, was apprehended near the headquarters of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), where she holds the position of assistant.

The reasons that led the defendant to film the restaurant of the Chinese citizen, located opposite the CNSS headquarters, are still unknown, let alone the motive behind her false allegations.

The video created a general state of panic among the inhabitants of the city and a maximum alert with the health services and local authorities.

The CNSS employee was taken into custody, at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, pending her appearance before the Attorney General.
