Moroccan PM Urges Diaspora to Support National Unity in TV Interview

The 8th channel of SNRT interviewed the Head of Government on national socio-political current affairs. Among the topics discussed were the efforts of the Executive, Moroccan political issues, the relations between the members of the majority he leads, ...

The Head of Government, [Saâd-Eddine El Othmani], Secretary General of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD), has refuted the possible revision of his party’s position towards the Party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM). On the occasion of Abdellatif Ouahbi’s recent election as head of the PAM, the Head of Government said he had conveyed, at the African Union summit in Addis Ababa, his congratulations by telephone to the new party leader, reports Hespress. "Frankly, our position on the PAM remains unchanged, insofar as any change within the party must be discussed and accepted by the cadres," he said.

Regarding the RNI, opposed to his party and a member of the presidential majority, Saâd-Eddine El Otmani specified that they are two different parties, otherwise they would have formed a single party. With regard to his visit to Addis Ababa where he represented the King at the level of the African Union, El Otmani believes that the final report did not mention the Moroccan Sahara, which some countries have not recognized, but where others have set up their consulates, implicitly recognizing that the Sahara is Moroccan.

Furthermore, the Head of Government acknowledges that efforts remain to be made and calls on his compatriots, both inside and outside the country, to work for territorial unity.
