Moroccan Teen Culinary Star ’Chef Omar’ Dies at 16 from Muscular Dystrophy

An inspiration has gone. The death of Chef Omar was announced on his official Facebook page. He died on Thursday, July 14, at the age of 16, from muscular dystrophy, a genetic disease that gradually weakens muscle fibers. He had long suffered from this disease that forced him to move around in a wheelchair.
Despite his disability, the teenager always kept hope. With the help of his mother, he created his YouTube channel and a Facebook page and shared simple and effective recipes with his subscribers. Chef Omar quickly found success. At the age of 11, he won the award for the most inspiring personality of the year at the Morocco Web Awards (MWA) (web personality of the year) in 2017. November 2020: a new award. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) had named him a Young Child Rights Advocate.
The courage and positive attitude of the teenager earned him the sympathy of many Internet users. He will have marked and inspired many teenagers affected by muscular dystrophy like him. His only regret would be not having realized his dream of becoming "the greatest chef in the world".
