Moroccan Teen in Coma After Brutal Gang Attack in Brussels Suburb

Soufyane Elimrani, 19, a Moroccan from Zumarraga (Guipuzcoa) and residing in Brussels with his uncle for a few years, was the victim of a violent assault when leaving the metro in Molenbeek (Brussels). The young man, seriously injured in the face and head, is currently in a coma.
Soufyane was violently attacked by about thirty individuals in Molenbeek, a neighborhood in Brussels. He suffers from fractures to the face and head. The mayor of Guipuzcoana, Mikel Serrano, expressed, on behalf of the population and the municipal council, the city’s "compassion" for the family who, he assured, can also count on the support of the municipality.
The young man comes from a family of Moroccan origin who have lived and are well integrated in the city for years, Serrano said, calling for an investigation to shed light on Soufyane’s assault. The mayor of the city promises to keep in touch with the young man’s parents who have already joined Brussels to be at their son’s bedside. "The most important thing is the recovery of the young man," he concluded.
