Moroccan Students Stranded as Border Closures Threaten German University Plans

The closure of borders could jeopardize the study plan of more than 200 Moroccan students enrolled in German universities. They find themselves blocked, after having finalized their registrations, completed the visa formalities and booked their places in university residences.
The dream of students wishing to pursue their studies in Germany may be mortgaged. The German universities and higher institutes in which they have been able to enroll are preparing to open their doors after the deconfinement. Unfortunately, these students are unable to attend classes and risk losing the year, after so much means invested.
Blocked in Morocco due to the closure of airspaces, these students have written to the head of government to request his support in order to fly to Germany.
On site, the German embassy in Rabat, overwhelmed by the repatriation of German nationals blocked in Morocco, apparently has no solution for these students expected in Germany since last March. Due to the situation, the visa services are also closed.
Moreover, the visas of these students will expire in June. And if, by then, no solution has been found, they risk losing everything. The only hope for these young people lies in an intervention by the Moroccan government in their favor with the German authorities.
