Moroccan Students Hospitalized After Suspected Chip Poisoning

An investigation is underway in Berrechid following the hospitalization of 19 students from a school in Had Soualem. They presented symptoms of food poisoning on Saturday evening, after consuming chips bought in a store near their school.
Taken care of at the regional hospital of Berrechid, 17 students were placed under observation in individual rooms, while two of them, more seriously affected, are under enhanced medical supervision. Their health condition is considered stable, but their return home is conditional on a complete improvement, according to sources cited by Hespress.
The health and provincial authorities immediately deployed a medical team on site to determine the exact circumstances of this poisoning. Samples of the incriminated chips and vomit samples from the students were taken for analysis. The public prosecutor’s office is supervising the investigation.
