Mass Food Poisoning Strikes Wedding in Morocco, Hospitalizing Dozens

About a hundred guests at a wedding in the province of El Jadida were victims of food poisoning after consuming a "chicken à la daghmira" dish.
Rushed to the Mohammed V Hospital in El Jadida, the patients presented symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Some more serious cases required transfer to private clinics.
The local authorities have opened an investigation to determine the causes of this collective intoxication. Analyses are underway to identify the source of the contamination, the chicken dish being the main suspect.
Such incidents have unfortunately multiplied in recent years in Morocco, particularly in Marrakech, where many snacks and restaurants have been closed following customer intoxications.
