Moroccan Students Face Legal Action Over Public Kiss Near School

Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of the Sidi Ifni region arrested two high school students for public indecency. They risk prison for a simple kiss.
Photos showing a 17-year-old veiled high school student and a 22-year-old high school student exchanging a kiss in front of a high school in the rural commune of Tighirt near Sidi Ifni. These images quickly inflamed the web, reports h24info.ma.
The elements of the Royal Gendarmerie of the region took charge of the case, and the two young people were arrested. If the young girl was released and is being prosecuted on provisional release after her interrogation, custody was maintained for the young man. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
In view of Article 483 of the Penal Code, the two high school students risk a lot. This article stipulates: "whoever in a ’state of voluntary nudity’ or by ’the obscenity of gestures or acts’ commits a ’public outrage’ is liable to 1 month to 2 years’ imprisonment and a fine between 120 and 500 DH".
