Moroccan Student Faces Trial for Public Kiss with Minor, Sparking Controversy

A 22-year-old student, he is accused of having kissed a minor, a 17-year-old high school student, in front of a high school in the rural commune of Tighirt near Sidi Ifni.

After spending a few days in custody, he will eventually be granted provisional release on bail, reports the Spanish media, La Vanguardia. The accused paid 1,000 dirhams.

Everything became complicated for the young man the day the photos in which he exchanged a kiss with a 17-year-old veiled high school student were widely circulated on social media.

On December 12, he will have to appear before the court of first instance of Tiznit.

Under Article 483 of the Penal Code, the young man risks a lot. This article stipulates: "whoever in a ’state of voluntary nudity’ or by ’the obscenity of gestures or acts’ commits a ’public outrage’ is liable to 1 month to 2 years’ imprisonment and a fine between 120 and 500 DH".
