Moroccan Steeplechase Star El Bakkali Named Africa’s Top Male Athlete of 2022

Soufiane El Bakali ends the year 2022 on a good note. The Moroccan champion has been named the best male athlete of the year in Africa by the African Athletics Confederation (CAA).
This is a crowning achievement for the world champion in the 3,000m steeplechase, who continues to accumulate titles this year. Soufiane El Bakkali owes this new distinction to his performances in various competitions.
He was the winner of the Diamond League and the best performer of the season (7:58.28), beating the Kenyans, Eliud Kipchoge, holder of the marathon WR and Emmanuel Korir, world champion in the 800m, we learned from the African Athletics Confederation, whose headquarters are based in Dakar.
Among the women, it is the Nigerian Tobi Amusan, world champion in the 100m hurdles and world record holder, who was named best female athlete, ahead of the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon and the Ethiopian Letesenbet Gidey.
