Moroccan Stars Shine in Continental Finals, Boosting National Pride

The Atlas Lions Amine Adli, Brahim Diaz, Youssef El Arabi, Ayoub El Kaabi, Oussama Idrissi or Sofiane Rahimi are all shining with their clubs that have reached the finals of continental competitions, thus making Morocco proud.

They are all delivering stunning performances in various continental competitions this season: the UEFA Champions League, the CAF Champions League, the Asian Cup, the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League, as well as the CONCACAF Champions League.

Amine Adli qualified for the European Football Championship final after his club, Bayer Leverkusen, snatched a draw against Roma (2-2). The German club will face Atalanta in the final on May 22 in Dublin. The Moroccan international contributed to this breakthrough: he scored 9 goals and provided 11 assists. His compatriot Brahim Diaz qualified for the UEFA Champions League final after Real Madrid overturned Bayern Munich and beat them 2-1. The Hispano-Moroccan striker played a key role in the Madrid team. He scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 41 games in all competitions.

With a hat-trick in the first leg and a brace in the return leg, Ayoub El Kaabi qualified Olympiacos for the Europa Conference League final against Aston Villa (2-0), Thursday evening. To his credit, 32 goals scored this season in all competitions, including 15 goals in the European Conference and Europa Leagues. His compatriot Youssef El Arabi also contributed to this feat.

Oussama Idrissi is among the best players in Mexico this season. He scored 6 goals and provided 14 assists. His Mexican club Pachuca will face their rival Columbus Crew of the United States in the CONCACAF Champions League final on June 2. His compatriot Sofiane Rahimi has also managed to lead Al Ain to the final of the Asian Champions League. The Emirati club will face Yokohama Marinos. The 27-year-old Moroccan striker has scored 20 goals and provided 16 assists in 37 games this season.

In Africa, it is the former FAR star, Reda Slim, who is shining. He managed to lead his team, Al Ahly, to reach the final of the African Champions League. The Egyptian club will face Espérance de Tunis.
