Moroccan Ex-Soldier Arrested for Torturing Elderly Mother Over Pension

When the elements of the judicial police entered a house in Settat, a horrific scene awaited them. An octogenarian, bearing signs of violence, was chained and abandoned in a corner of the dwelling.
The author of this abominable crime is none other than her son, a former soldier born in 1964, who was subjecting his mother to the worst tortures in order to seize her meager retirement pension.
For the sum of 800 dirhams, the old woman had bruises and hematomas all over her body, as a result of the blows she had received. A 40-day incapacity certificate was issued to her at the city hospital.
The accused was taken into custody, pending his appearance before the Public Prosecutor’s Office to answer charges of kidnapping and torture.
