Moroccan Soccer Star Sentenced in Controversial Rape Case

A Moroccan player, playing in the Saudi championship, was sentenced to two years in prison with a suspended sentence by the correctional chamber near the Court of Appeal of Tangier, for a rape case.
The defendant, who arrived from Saudi Arabia to appear before the court, is being prosecuted in a case of rape aggravated by the loss of virginity of the victim.
In court, his lawyer reported an amicable settlement between the two parties, as well as the act of waiver of the complaint signed by the plaintiff. The defense also requested a reduced sentence, taking into account the player’s professional situation.
The correctional chamber near the Court of Appeal of Tangier nevertheless sentenced the player to two years in prison with a suspended sentence, accompanied by a fine in favor of the victim.
