Moroccan Man Sentenced for Sexual Harassment in Taxi, Sparking Debate on Public Safety

A man was sentenced by the correctional chamber near the court of first instance of Meknes to a suspended sentence of two months in prison, accompanied by a fine of 500 DH, for harassment of a mother.
Accompanied by other passengers, the victim had boarded the taxi on Mohammed V Boulevard to go to her home in the Sidi Saïd neighborhood. Next to her was the sexagenarian who began to harass her by repeatedly touching her thighs, reports aujourd’hui.ma.
Despite the refusal of the mother, he continued his groping while mocking his victim. None of the passengers or the driver intervened to assist her during the journey. This encouraged the sexagenarian to continue his act, specifies the same source.
To get rid of her harasser, the mother continued her journey to the station, passed her neighborhood and went to the police where she denounced her tormentor who was arrested, prosecuted and then sentenced.
