Moroccan Singer’s Sister Set for Release After Year in Prison for Cybercrime Case

Incarcerated for nearly a year in the Hamza mon Bb case, Ibtissam Dounia will be released from prison on March 13 after serving her entire sentence. In an interview, Dounia Batma, her sister, talks in tears about this difficult separation.
Now prosecuted only for the offense of insults and acquitted in the Hamza mon BB case, Dounia Batma is saddened for her sister who did not have this chance. In prison since last March, she should complete her twelve months of imprisonment on March 13.
Like the other defendants in this case, Ibtissam Dounia is being prosecuted for "participation in fraudulent access to the computer data system, deliberate participation through the operation of this system, dissemination of images and statements of others without consent and dissemination of unfounded facts in order to harm the privacy of individuals and defamation," as well as for "participation in blackmail".
In her interview with Arabi Post, Dounia Batma confided that she had the impression that her eyes were being torn out after the court’s decision, so much the pain was intense. "We are three sisters. We live under the same roof and have always been very close. We couldn’t bear the fact that Ibtissam was incarcerated. We feel like she’s been behind bars for 20 years," she added before bursting into tears.
