Moroccan Singer Ibtissam Batma Released After Serving 12 Months in ’Hamza mon BB’ Case

Sentenced to one year in prison in the Hamza mon BB case, Ibtissam Batma was released from prison this Saturday, March 13. Unlike her sister Dounia, who is being prosecuted while at liberty, she had been incarcerated for 12 months at the Oudaya prison in Marrakech.
Ibtissam’s parents came to welcome their daughter upon her release from prison. A few days ago, Dounia Batma had spoken about this case: "After the court decision, I had the impression that my eyes had been torn out, so much the pain was intense," the singer confided. "We are three sisters. We live under the same roof and have always been very close. We couldn’t bear the fact that Ibtissam was incarcerated. We feel like she’s been behind bars for 20 years," she had said in an interview with Arabi Post.
Like the other defendants in this case, Ibtissam was prosecuted for "participation in fraudulent access to a data computer system, deliberate participation through the operation of this system, dissemination of images and statements of others without consent and dissemination of unfounded facts in order to harm the privacy of individuals and defamation and participation in blackmail."
