Moroccan Singer Saad Lamjarred Remains in France After Rape Conviction

The information stating that Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred is returning to Morocco after his provisional release is false and erroneous. He is still in France.
"Lamjarred is still in France, accompanied by his wife and parents, and he has no plans to visit Morocco at the moment, due to some of his personal obligations," a source consulted by Hespress assured, who also denied the rumors concerning the withdrawal of Saad Lamjarred’s (Moroccan) passport (by the French authorities, editor’s note), and his ban from leaving French territory.
The Paris Assize Court had sentenced the singer on February 24 to a six-year prison sentence for aggravated rape in a trial opposing him to Laura Prioul, a French woman. On April 20, Saad Lamjarred was released from prison after being granted provisional release. A trial should soon open before the court of appeal.
Currently, the singer is trying to advance his career. He should soon announce the release of a new single titled "ach khbarek" (what’s new, in French), the video of which was shot in El Jadida a few months ago, "in the greatest secrecy", it is believed.
