Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma Sentenced to 8 Months in ’Hamza mon bb’ Blackmail Case

Dounia Batma was sentenced to 8 months in prison for her involvement in the Hamza mon bb affair. After numerous postponements, the Court of First Instance of Marrakech finally ruled on this case in which several people are implicated.
Among those awaiting their fate before the courts in this case were the singer’s sister, Ibtissam Batma, sentenced to one year in prison, while stylist Aicha Ayach received one and a half years in prison. Sophia Chakiri, also involved in the case, got away with a 10-month prison sentence. All these convictions are accompanied by a fine of 10,000 DH to be paid individually.
Dounia Batma and the three other defendants were prosecuted for "participation in fraudulent access to the computer data processing system and dissemination of images and statements of others without their consent, in order to harm or defame". Several months ago, two anonymous Instagram and Snapchat accounts called "Hamza mon bb", now deleted, "disseminated private conversations attributed to other artists and celebrities, intimate photos and rumors".
Complaints were filed by the victims, leading to the opening of an investigation that resulted in the arrest of several people, including the four who have just been convicted for their role in this case.
