Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma Reflects on 'Hamza mon bb' Scandal, Admits Naivety

After her conviction in the nebulous affair known as "Hamza mon bb", Moroccan singer Dounia Batma seems to have taken a step back. Far from the sensational statements and spectacular turnarounds, she admits to having made certain mistakes out of "naivety".

Dounia Batma’s professional career was shaken by the "Hamza mon bb" affair. Invited to the "Ana ghir Insan" show, hosted by Salma El Omari, the Moroccan singer confided that in this case, her spontaneity has been detrimental to her. "We live in an era where it is no longer possible to be spontaneous, honest and humble," she affirmed.

Visibly moved to return to the trials she had to go through, the losses she has suffered lately, Dounia even holding back a few tears, indicated that she will try to change her behavior in the future. "All the mistakes I made have served as a lesson to me. I have learned well from my mistakes. What is certain is that I will never commit them again," she stressed.

"Hamza mon bb" is an anonymous Snapchat account that became known for publishing indiscretions, intimate photos or private conversations of Moroccan stars, evolving between the kingdom and the Gulf countries. The affair sent many personalities from various sectors behind bars. Apart from Dounia Batma sentenced to one year in prison after the appeal trial, Mohamed Madimi, the person who sparked the scandal, is the latest person to receive a prison sentence in this case where sex, blackmail, and prostitution have rubbed shoulders.
