Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma Appeals to King After Court Upholds Prison Sentence

Following the rejection of her appeal by the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation in Rabat, Moroccan singer Dounia Batma involved in the "Hamza mon bb" case makes an appeal to King Mohammed VI.
While she was trying to cancel the one-year prison sentence related to the "Hamza Mon bb" case, Dounia Batma saw her appeal rejected by the Court of Cassation in Rabat. This confirms her involvement in the case. The singer had been sentenced to eight months in prison in July 2020, before the Court of Appeal in Marrakech extended her sentence to one year in prison the following year. A hard blow for the interpreter of Kharboucha. In a live session on her Instagram account, Dounia, with tears in her eyes, asks for the royal pardon.
The singer claims to have been the target of a plot aimed at ending her artistic career, but also of an "assassination attempt" after her car was hit by a stone near a bridge near Kenitra. She claims that her ex-husband Mohamed Turk was involved in the plot that targeted her, accusing him of having disclosed her secrets and acting in exchange for money.
Her sister Ibtissam Batma is also involved in the same case for serious computer offenses. The two sisters are accused in particular of having accessed personal data, in order to disseminate private conversations and photos of people via online applications without the consent of the victim.
"Hamza mon bb" is an active social media account on Instagram and Snapchat created anonymously and which became known by publishing intimate photos or private conversations of Moroccan stars, evolving between Morocco and the Gulf countries in order to infringe on their privacy.
