Moroccan Singer Dounia Batma’s Husband Defends Her After Prison Sentence
Messages of support are pouring in following the conviction of Moroccan star Dounia Batma to a prison sentence. The latest is that of her husband, Mohamed Turk, who addressed her a most romantic message.
The announcement of the singer’s verdict, on the night of July 29, did not leave her many fans indifferent, even less her life partner, who gave free rein to his emotions in a message published on Instagram.
"My dear queen, do not give credit to the public’s reactions. It is better to trust and respect oneself than to be adored by the public when one has no self-esteem. I know that you have been the victim of injustice, but this will not last," he wrote.
On the night of Wednesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 30, the Court of First Instance in Marrakech sentenced Dounia Batma and her sister Ibtissam to respective sentences of 8 months and 1 year in prison, accompanied by a fine of 10,000 dirhams each.
