Moroccan Security Forces Dismantle Terror Cell, Arrest Three Suspects

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations proceeded, this Thursday, March 9, 2023, to dismantle a terrorist cell composed of three members aged between 19 and 28 years old.
It was on the basis of information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) that the BCIJ successfully carried out this operation leading to the arrest of the three "dangerous criminals" who were planning to attack public order. The operation took place simultaneously in Souk Larbaâ, Tetouan and Larache. The arrested persons are aged between 19 and 28 years old, indicates the BCIJ in a press release.
The three individuals arrested have pledged allegiance to Daesh, the same source said, according to which they were to carry out a series of terrorist projects in Morocco before joining the ranks of the organization in the Sahel with the support of an active member of the "Islamic State". The searches carried out made it possible to seize bladed weapons, publications glorifying the terrorist organization Daesh, and others tracing the terrorist activities of groups operating in the Sahel. Investigators also seized computer equipment and media.
The persons arrested as part of the investigation into terrorism cases have been placed in custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, pending the completion of the investigation conducted by the BCIJ in collaboration with the latter.
