Morocco Dismantles ISIS-Linked Terror Cell Planning Attacks on Critical Infrastructure

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), based on information provided by the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), announced the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to the Daesh organization. The latter was preparing to deploy a series of terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing the security of the kingdom, according to a press release relayed by the MAP agency.
The ongoing investigation has revealed that the members of this cell had pledged allegiance to the Daesh organization and were planning sabotage operations against critical infrastructure in the country. They are said to have been engaged in the material preparation of these projects, focusing on the surveillance and identification of targets, as well as the collection of information for the manufacture of explosives.
Furthermore, the investigations have revealed that the suspects were seeking to establish links with active terrorists outside Morocco. The objective was to coordinate their efforts and join the branches of Daesh located in particular in the Sahel and the Sahara, after the implementation of their terrorist plans on national territory, according to the conclusions of the BCIJ.
