Moroccan Runner Shatters 20-Year-Old Marrakech Marathon Record

Moroccan athlete Hicham Laqouahia broke the marathon record, covering the distance of 42.097 km in 2 hours 06 minutes and 32 seconds.
The Moroccan athlete won the title of the 31st edition of the Marrakech International Marathon, which took place this Sunday morning. This record was previously held by Kenyan athlete Stephan Tum (2h 06 min 35 s) since 2003.
The second position in this 31st edition of the MIM went to the Kenyan, Jacob Kendagor (2 h 07min 16 s), followed in third place by the Ethiopian, Feleke Wondouser (2 h 07 min 32 s).
On the women’s side, it was the Ethiopian athlete, Hawi Alemu Negeri, who won in 2 h, 27 min and 56 seconds, ahead of the Moroccan, Soud Kanbouchia, with a time of 2 h, 28 min and 07 seconds.
