Kenyan Runners Dominate Casablanca Marathon, Moroccan Takes Silver in Women’s Race

Dominated by the Kenyans, the Casablanca International Marathon allowed the Moroccan Keltoum Bouaasrya to win the silver medal on October 6, 2019.
During this 12th edition of the Casablanca Marathon, the Kenyan runners once again stood out, leaving no chance to the other nations.
The Moroccan, Keltoum Bouaasrya finished 2nd with a time of 2:34:30, far ahead of the Ethiopian Hey Mamitu Balcha (2:39:56).
The first athlete, who won the gold in her category, is Lilian Jebitok who covered the distance of 42.195 km with a time of 2 h 31 min 31 sec.
On the men’s side, the Kenyan, Sammy Kigen Korir finished the distance with a time of 2:08:32, a new record for the competition. As for Kigen Korir, he was overtaken by his two compatriots, Jonathan Yego Kiptoo (2:10:28) and Kotut Jackson Kipkoech (2:11:37).
