A Moroccan Resident Sequestered in a Clinic in Casablanca?

The case is based on an administrative and financial dispute. Admitted for treatment, the student thought she would benefit from the coverage of her German health insurance (RDS). However, a delay in the transmission of the medical file would have led the insurance to refuse the initial coverage.

According to the patient’s relatives, the clinic would have then demanded the direct payment of a sum of 600,000 dirhams. Faced with the family’s refusal, this amount would have been revised to 150,000 dirhams, without detailed justifications being provided. It was at this point that the establishment would have conditioned the young woman’s release on the settlement of the bill.

During this period, the family had mentioned the sequestration of the young Moroccan woman. The management of the clinic is accused of having confiscated the patient’s phone and laptop, limiting her communications with the outside world while she had to prepare for university exams.

After several days of tension and media coverage of the case, the young woman, whose health condition is fragile, has left the clinic. Her family is now calling on the competent authorities to open an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of this detention.
