Moroccan King Orders Swift Action in Goa Clinic Assault Case

King Mohammed VI has given his High instructions to the competent authorities with a view to the rapid care of the Moroccan woman who was recently the victim of a sexual assault by a doctor, while she was in intensive care in a private clinic in the city of Old Goa in India.
The victim, a 24-year-old Moroccan woman, accuses the 28-year-old doctor Firoshab Doshi of having sexually assaulted her while she was undergoing treatment in the clinic where she had been admitted on an emergency basis on August 29th. The suspect was apprehended in Solapur while trying to evade justice, and placed in custody, relays the India Times newspaper which reports that the suspect was arrested by the Goa police and placed in custody.
The doctor’s arrest follows a rape complaint filed against him by the victim. The young woman was participating in a training program organized by a non-governmental organization working to reduce poverty. While she was hospitalized, the doctor and a nurse visited her for an examination. The accused then asked the nurse to leave the room and assaulted the Moroccan woman, who was weak and vulnerable, confides a sister of the victim.
